Have an A6 that is having tranny problems (see my thread in the A6 forum). Found a loaded, above average condition 2004 S4, Black on Black with a 4.2/6sp manual, 100k miles. Dealer wants 13.9k, but i thinks that's too much. Since i'm no expert on these, any one want to chip in on how much I should offer? location - San Francisco bay area.

I used to be a used car manager and still have access (not supposed to lol) to some of my appraisal tools. I plugged in the info you supplied and in avaerage condition my retail price is 14,475. The miles are high, but i think hes asking a fair price. Do you have a link to the car online? Ill carfax it for you.

yes, that's the only one I have found in the area. 1 caveat: the A/C isn't working right now but the dealership said they would have it fixed. Let me know what you think.

I think its a good price for that year S4. It has however been in an accident back in 2005. If you can afford that price comfortably then i would say have em fix the a/c and purchase it. If its a stretch in price, offer 1000 less than asking because of the accident. Personally i think its a decent number. The dealer seems reputable, the took the time to build a photobooth for their vehicles. Good luck
