Once a code is thrown, isnt the check engine light on permanently or until its cleared?

I was joking about the wheel bearing.
The ICM is an Ignition Control module. Is on the top of your airbox with two plugs going to it on opposite sides and is shapped like an oval. Here is a pic

haha...I feel dump...well i guess i'll just get one of those OBD II things and find out what the codes mean...right?....oh yea...couple of months ago i used one, and it said my cylinder #2 misfire...could this be the problem?
Kinda hard to say, normally if you have a misfire your engine will start but you will have a missfire and run a little rough, bouncy rpms. A good way to see if its your coil pack is to take cyl 2 coil and swap it with say cyl 4 and if cyl 2 missfire goes away and now cyl 4 missfires its your coilpack. Also could be the plugs for the missfire.
Hey...trailboss, Thanks for all of your advice...im going to check on it first thing tomorrow...and ill update you, on what i see....you guys are the best....thanks again
well, i use the code reader and i got only one code, but im pretty sure theres suppost to be more...because 2 months ago i had about 4 code and i never erase it....well the code i got today is P0118..., Also, i tried to start my car today, and it didnt wanna start until i hold it for about 20 sec's then it finally rumble and started.....PLeASE i need help...Could it be the ignition coils or i mean coilpack? any advice would help greatly! thanks
P0118 is your ECT sensor, has nothing to do with your car not starting. Get it VAG ed, it will probablly read more codes than the generic obd-II scanner. Pull a plug out and check them. Then id go for the ICM then the coilpacks.
