Wheel Accident. Help
So new years morning, my a4 1.8t quattro loses control on black ice and starts drifting..
It hit a curb. My Front right wheel is kinda pushed back into the frame and is kinda on a little angle.
I know there some damage behind the wheel but due to New Years i wont be able to get it examined till tuesday.
Anyone know from my description, if possible, if its just the wheel bearing thats gone or suspension etc..
Also i was wondering at what price range (cnd $) im looking at.. I mean best case scenerio and worst case..
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Happy New Year to all

similar thing just happened to me a couple of weeks ago...
i was in an empty parking lot, hit some ice, skidded like 100 ft straight onto a curb.
when i got out to look at my car, it looked like i had messed up my front right wheel. luckily it was just the shock i was feeling at the moment that kept me from being able to realize it was just the car's suspension that was pushed up to accommodate the fact that my wheel was up on the curb.
there wasn't any damage to the wheel.
i did dent my front right panel though...not gonna bother getting it fixed right now. probably would cost like 2 grand...and i am not raising my monthly insurance payments just to fix a dented panel.
good luck getting your car fixed.

well ..
it all depends...
its hard to tell by pictures, best is to take it to an alignment shop and have it apraised
most of the time the inner tie rod tends to give away and it bends so that would be 1 item, car would ned and alignment and in the worst case and scenario it might need a sub-frame push.
trust me i work in an alignment shop

Yeh so i just came back from the audi dealer (where my b6 is resting) and i brought a pal who works with insurance and claims and stuff. He said its almost guaranteed that its the suspension. the body is good, no damage there. the rim (winter steel one) is damanged but luckily my new winter tire is still in shape..
so im looking at right now replacing the suspension.. anyone kno how much $$$ (canadian) would it be ?? Since eveyrthing is closed till tuesday i have no way of getting estimates and things like that..
thanks alot!

yeh i just got a price listing for the component.. there are i think 5-6 things (i dont kno how many need to be replaced) each at around 230. and then there is always labour..
so im thinking worst case scenerio if everything is destroyed its approx 2k..
*#@$$$@!@#%$^(#$%

Im scared to go through insurance because they will screw me over and rise my premium/monthly payments for a long time which would result in a higher total payment than the damage... they would prob label me as an un safe driver and destroy me with insurance.!!
we will see tomorrow wats exactly wrong with my baby..

when my car ended up like it did in that picture, i immediately thought what happened to your car happened to mine.
i was all set to give up the car to a repair shop for a few months and go thru insurance...called my company, then called claims but decided to wait and find out exactly what the problem was before arranging a meet with claims. Once you open a report and they check out the car and find out how many thousands of dollars they are gonna be shelling out for you, let the premium raises begin.
Luckily, my car was fine with the exception of the body damage i did, which i am gonna let alone for the moment - that would probably cost like 2 grand to fix.
If you can bear it, it might be worth it to try to borrow or work for 2000 dollars and be without your car for a month or so...just leave it sitting somewhere till you can come up with the money to foot the repairs out of your pocket. this way, at least you'll avoid preimum raises, which honestly is the last thing you want to be dealing with, espeically when you're young like a lot of us are.
If you're under 25 like a lot of us are, we're gonna be in the "highest risk" and most expensive insurance bracket for a few more years. We would be financially slammed for a multi-thousand dollar claim.
I pay 110 a month now, and i am 21. If i had put this thru insurnace if i needed to, it's almost certain my premium would have AT LEAST doubled to over 200 a month. That's 110 dollars extra a month times 48, for the next 4 years until a decrease in my insurance would be expected = over 5000 dollars. Assuming your repairs are around 2000 dollars and that your premium would likely at least double if you go through insurance, i don't know how long you're gonna be in the insurance bracket you're in and when you will be seeing a decrease, but you could potentially end up saving a lot of money footing this bill yourself.
Good luck man. let us know how it works out.
