ok so i have a 99 a4 1.8tq and believe i have a bad front wheel bearing. I am able to move the hub in and out a pretty decent amount, should i assume that this is a pretty good indicator besides the annoying humming noise im getting.

 

yeah, definitely sounds like its your wheel bearing
