Wheel play on my A4
Hi guys, I have a 1998 A4 2.8 QMS
I was moving my steering wheel left and right in my driveway today and my bro told me that my front driver side wheel had a little play so I asked him to move the steering wheel a little so I canseewhat is wrong and it looks like the play is coming from one of the bushings on the upperarm. It's funny because I searched and almost everyone who is having bushing/CA problems also have noises, but I don't. Could it be that the bushings are bad just not as bad as to the point where they make noises? Input greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well my suspension is pretty tight corners like a champ and even at low speeds andturning from a full stop seems fine. I really wouldn't have known if mybrother didn't tell me. I really don't wanna buy a CA sighh
It's probably time to change your control arms and tie rod ends. I'd recommend doing it all at once, most A4's need them to be changed at 100k+ miles.
To check for sure, jack up your front end and lock the steering wheel (try to turn it with the key out of the ignition), then wiggle the tire. There shouldn't be any play, and if there is, it's time to head over to purems or ecstuning and order a control arm kit.
If money is a problem, try to pinpoint where the play is coming from and just buy that part, I'd do it on both sides though.

Ok..Gonnna buy a CA in the future sometime , but do you guys think it would be alright if I continued to drive on itwith the minor wheel play? ....Since it's not really that bad and I don't have any abnormal noises. Once again thanks for the help
