Default when parking a manuel

this is my first manuel so:
when you park your car do you leave it in gear or in neutral?
is one better then the other?

when on a flat surface i just leave it in neutral, if your on a hill with your car facing up the hill i put it in fist gear, and if the car is facing down i put it in reverse

Why not just always leave it in first? The whole "if the car is facing down" thing shouldnt matter... the engines compression will keep the car from moving.

Always leave it in first gear, always use the parking brake... never park it in neutral, unless it's running.
That is my philosophy... what is the point of parking it in neutral, anyways? Why risk it?

It really doesn’t matter; it’s more of a safety thing. I always put mine in first or reverse, so if the parking brake fails somehow, the tranny will stop the car from rolling. IMO its always best to put it in gear.
