Where do all of you get your parts installed???
second that ^... read up...
if you have the print out of a good diy its like watching a mechanic do something. Have you everpaid $300-$400 and left saying to yourself I could have done that for free!
once you experience a successful DIY you will look for things to do. it gives you a good sense of accomplishment.
When I first started I was afraid of changing my DV to a 710N. Now I am researching for exhaust install w/ test/down pipe. FMIC install. and eventually BT (next spring/summer?). If you have instructions and the tools you need add a little planning and you can pretty much do anything. otherwise wing it and if you mess up then bring it to the shop and have them fix it. but definetely give it a go... what do you have planned?

I do most of the work on my car myself. But I dont have things like lifts, air tools and such. If I want something done that I cant do myself I bring it to my local tuning shop to get it done. They understand my modifications and wont do stupid stuff like reflash an ECU that has a preformance profile on it. (Not that you can reflash my ECU anyways but its an example)
Unless its warrenty work I dont ever go to the dealer to have work done.
I do have tools such as a vagcom to help with codes, Bentley manual for examples, breakdowns and part numbers. This with most typical tools will allow you to do a lot.

Garage. Turbo installs, exhaust, suspension, brakes, grills, intercoolers, all the mechanical work on mine and a few friends cars.

Yes, the temp is 10°F. And yes, it hurts like a mother when you smack the back of your hand on the motor when it's that cold.
Any exterior stuff I take to a friend of mine that does bodywork.
