Please can someone tell me where the VSS sensor is? I have been told it may be the problem I have but my UK manaul just is not clear. my code is 00281 is it hard to find?? is it the same thing as the Hall sensor or the lambarda?

thanks
Ian

Thanks for the codes, My tester is a Vag and gives a different code. When I scan the engine its fine but when I scan the trans the code 00281 comes up. I was able to reset the code but now I cannot. Looks like I am going to give up on the car, Pity s the cars in really good condition but enought is enought.

Driven the car like a dream tonight and now gone back to two gears, It must be a sensor or just a connection but its finding out which one.
Its just got the habit of snapping back into safe mode and as soon as you talk auto boxs the price goes up.
