Default whining noise (already searched)

Im getting this whining noise every time I turn the wheel to the left. I've already checked the Powersteering fluid and its at max level. Any ideas? I do know my tierods are bad, but can that be the reason? I know someout out there has had this same problem!!! HELP

do you hear the noise whenever you turn the wheel or only when the wheel is completely turned in one direction? if that's the case, then that is normal. try to avoid doing that, whenever possible, it's not good for you pump.

Is the noise coming from the engine bay, or is it coming from the wheel well, or are you just hearing a small squeeking of the steering wheel.

If it occurs with the car standing still and comes from the engine bay, it is either the steering pump or the belt. If it is coming from the wheel well and occurs only when the car is moving, it is either cv joint or wheel bearing, likely the former.

What car, engine, year, do you have, and have you changed suspension geometry or put on bigger wheels?

Guy's rollin on 19's... dont imagine they're light either... that stuff wreaks havoc on all the suspension/steering components.

the whining noise is coming from the steering wheel? I can almost feel it when it whines, like friction in the steering wheel. I can hear it while sitting still and turning the wheel and also when im driving really slow. I have a 99.5 A4 1.8t, I have race springs with 19's

If it is a small squeek/groan in the steering wheel, then it is probably a dried out steering column "knuckle", not serious.

This sounds very different than a PS pump "screech"

Mine stopped after I repositioned my steering wheel a few times. Pull it in and out a couple of times and change the tilt a few times, then re-set it to where you want it. See if that helps
