Why does Audi have to be so good?
My quest to finding the perfect car in the 60k to 80k miles has given me many sleepless nights. At first I was considering a w202 C230k, but that car was too boring. Then I drove an A4 1.8tq. What a rush. It was engaging, exciting, andexhilarating. However, after alot of research it seems a BMW 3-series would be much more suited to eat up alot of miles. Where a high mileage A4 1.8t apparently is no picnic to maintain. Very dissapointing, since after test driving a 3 it was not even close to as much of a rush as the A4, granted it was a 323i.
I guess Audi makes the best 70k mile car on the market.

what year did you drive? Cuz there is really nothing exciting about 150 or 170 hp in a heavy *** car like the A4. Maybe you drove a chipped A4? But i do agree, the A4 is very solid and drives like no other. The styling and everything about it is unique. They arent bad to maintain if you can turn a wrench. It doesnt take a rocket scientist or certified Audi techto do most of the work. Of all the cars Ive owned, the Audi is the most rewarding and exciting to drive. But a stock 1.8t is a dog, youve got to at least chip it.
Ahhh, then I must have driven a chipped car because it was a rush like no other. It was a 2001 andI was thrown hard back into my seat.
And btw onepoint8tee. Your posts have been so inspirational to me. I have some saved on my computer, and look at them whenever I start to think maintaining an Audi is going to cripple me.

"granny car"??[:'(].. im driving a 2002 a4 1.8t Q.. love driving it ... also find it exciting as hell to drive, all i did is put in a K&N filter(today) and saving some $$$ for a brola exhaust system... im just new to the audi scene and my parents always had hondas and mazdas and i finally make enough to make payments on my car so for me its a huge step up in power and handling driving the audi... def funner than the competitors!! but your right I WANT TO GET A CHIP!!!!!
go ahead and buy the bmw and regret it for the rest of your life....go ahead bro....they are 5 TIMES more expoensive to maintain! If you dont believe me, just go to the dealer and ask how much it is just to replace sumthing simple like the radio... I wont say any numbers cause i want you to hear it with your own ears. Then, come back to this forum with your newly purchased audi and a permanent smile on your face nowing you made the right choice. Not only does audi's have unlimited aftermarket modifications....and chips that make the car completely different....you will have spare money in your wallet compared to a BIG *** hole in it!! good luck bro
see, i came froma 4.3 liter v6 and a 2.7 v6 and a 2.0 4 cylinder and a 3.1 v6, all ranging from about 14-215 hp, never had the true v8 muscle power, but i have driven for short periods of time stuff from a 04 cobra to lightnings to z06 vetts and evo viii's
and i think that buy your self or from a start, even an un-tunned 1.8t feels quick when you get the turbo to kick in, but "racing" someone might be a different story
now that i am tuned and stuff i haven't had the privelage to roll someone and see, but i bet someone i would of got smoked by in the past i could keep up with or beat
it is all about experience and experiences, if you are used to weak civics/protege's and such a turbo a4 will be a power house
