Why does Audi purposely the top rear light?
I have an 01 a4
Does anyone know why the top of the four right rear light is blocked off?
I thought for the longest time that I had a blown light, but I just too the encasement out and discovered that even though there is a socket for a light, there arent any bulbs that can fit through the encasement.
I called audi and the best answer they gave me was that it was a german thing.
Should I not just file away the plastic that's in the way?

Do a search "rear fog light".. You should get a better answer than what audi gave you. Its basicaly so that people behind you know its not your brake light, and it penetrates the fog so people can see you in front of them... Its brighter than your tail lights (not brake lights).
thanks a lot... i appreciate the better answer
if i do scrape off some plastic to put another light in, what type of light should it be? I want it to be as bright as the one on the left but that incasing is harder to get too so i didnt bother with it.

ive done it already....just get a dremel and cut out till a bulb fits...if i remember correctly its 1157a i think thats the bulb number...just look at what bulb u got in the left side and get the same bulb otr buy a pak of 2 and replace both like what i did....hardest part of this is the clean up of all the little plastic bits i dremeled out lol....but it makes for a nice look when u put on the rear fogs which i do gotta say i dont do often only when needed...but i havent had any problems since doing this so good luck
