will the tranny from a 96 a4 quattro work in my 99 quattro tiptronic both cars are 1.8t but the 96 is not tiptronic.thanks

You trying to put a 5-speed tranny in ur 1.8l 99 huh? yeah it will prolly take alot of planing and work but with the tranny and pedals and stuff, and the right ECU i think it could work but not worth it in my opinion

 

yes it will work but, you will need to make sure you get the car programed to run with a diff traynny. assuming they are both autos. do these cars have tranny computers or is it all in the ecu. if its got it's own tranny computer then you should just need to make sure you put the right tranny cfomp with the right tranny

 

No it won't work. You're swapping auto to trans, you'll need all the accessories to make it work.

yeah it will bolt up but the logistics of it isnt so simple, ecu and computers will have to be changed, may i ask why you want to? if its not a great reason it might just not be worth it.

 

I'm asking this because my tranny may be going up both the trannys are auto quattro trannys just one came from a 96 which is not tiptronic but I have seen in a DIY that you can add tiptronic to a none tip tranny car.

 

Are you getting this tranny for free or something? It might work, but Id much much much much much rather get a tip tranny. There is really no other reason to downgrade if youre not getting it for free. Hit up www.shokan.com for a usedtip tranny quote.
