Default window issue

ok, i am doing this for a friend....... he posted on zine and was told to get a new convienince(sp) modual, did and still no workie....... and i did search

Alright guys i have a 97 A4 1.8t that has some issues with the windows/ power locks. Neither one will work. I dont have the owners manual for the 97, but i have the one for my 99.5, and it seems like all the fuses are ok yet. But i was wondering if any of you have had this problem before and/or could look at your 97's owners manual and let me know what fuse(s) i should be looking at... Any advice would be great!! thanks![/align]

Ask him if he coded the convience module, if he didn't it still won't work.

I recently solved a very annoying window/lock failure. There is a small computer in the trunk. It runs the window controls as well as the convenience lights and the locks/alarm system. Mine had gotten flooded (totally floating and not totally sure how the water got there) and the circuit board for the electronics was totally corroded. Put in a new "central locking module" and everything works great now. That would be the first thing I'd check.

I made sure that I replaced it with a matching part number and programed the keys and I was in business. They did change part numbers for several years so you must make sure that they match.
