Its been happening for a while i just didnt care. But just thought i would ask what you think it is. My drivers window goes doen perfectly fine. But when i want to put the windo back up, it creeps really slow and sometimes doesnt go all the way up. is is the switch? or the actual motor/regulator? Than on my passenger rear window, when i go to put it up once its up all the way it shoots back down and takes a few times to get it up and to stay? whats the deal with that? thanks for any help.

 

The driver's window might have a regulator problem but i would try and lube the window guides and see it that helps. As for the rear window, if you have a B6 (2003 or newer) it sounds like the pinch pertection is not set. Roll the window all the way up and hold the switch up, then all the way down and hold the switch down, then all the way back up again while holding the switch again. It may take several tries but that should fix the problem.

 

it is a 99.5 audi a4 1.8t. Im stopping by the dealer tomarrow anyway so im going to ask what they think. If they give me no light on the problem i will try the lube thing.

i will let ya know. By the way how much you asking? i have the central locing unit, and possibly somethign todo with ABS in front of the window problem so it would be a fe weeks.

My windows sqeak....seems like its only when its hott out tho, but i didnt really put them down in the winter so that could be it too...how do you lube them or whatever without getting anything on the windows?

 

Try opening all your windows and with the car off, use your key to close all windows from the door handle. If all windows goes up at the same rate of speed, its most likely your pinch pertection system. If any resistance on any of the windows, good sign of motor or regulator problem.

 

If you hear a bunch of crunching sounds coming from the door it is probably the regulator. Mine crapped out a couple of days ago.
