I have a 1998 A4 1.8 and when i turn the key, it just does nothing. some lights come on but it doesnt even try to turn over. I cleaned all of the battery cables and replaced the battery itself...anyone else have this problem or know of it??? Please help...

the immobiliser lamp doesnt come on...it wont start at all either.

 

then you probably have a blown fuse

is it getting fuel/spark at the plugs?


forget that cough (reason for edit) will the car start with a jump lead from another car?? if it does the battery is stuffed ( cranking amps too low )

 

what program or website are you using for that ????

 

it wont start with a jump, fuses were checked also. yet nothing...

 

chances are its the ignition barrel not connecting "black box at the rear of the ignition switch" cheap replacement
