Woo! HID FTW
I installed my 4300k kit in my low beams! It was fun and fairly easy, too! Took me a little under an hour to do the whole thing and I'm very happy with the results. I mounted the ballasts right underneath the headlights and it fits very snug and doesn't scream "I'm a zip-tie technician!" (even though right now they are held in with zip-ties
I'll be mounting them with some screws and nuts later, I just need to wait for the hardware store to open up! I did it last night in the dark because I wanted to see them right away, and they are pretty cool. I was thinking of doing my high-beams as well, but seeing how long it takes for the lows to stabilize, I won't be doing them. 3000k fogs are next on the agenda, as soon as I fix them

I thought about doing the HID high beams but for the same reason, it seemed pointless. Plus I am putting in HID fogs already, so there's really no need to even have high beams on the car at that point, let alone a $90 set of high beams that I will hardly ever need to use.
I use my high-beams plenty, but when I want them on, I want them on right now, not having to warm up for a few seconds.
I was wondering, where have people mounted their ballasts?

Many people mount them under the headlights. Remove the lights from the car and on the bottom of the housing is a provision for mounting the OEM ballasts. Most of the aftermarket ballasts will fit in the same spot. My kit is from Pilot, and the ballasts came with mounting brackets, so for now they're mounted on the inner fender area on each side of the bay, but when I replace my headlights this spring, I'll take the time to move the ballasts to the bottom of the housings. It cleans up the look and keeps the excess wire lengths hidden well that way.
I wanted to put mine on the bottom of the headlights, but the ballast from vvme would not fit ( I tried to do some trimming of plastic but I could not get the damn things to fit). So I just mounted them on a ledge underneath the housings.
