Default Worth it?

I'm gonna offer him 1500. Is it even worth it with all of those problems and how much do you think i'm looking at to fix everything?

i wouldnt suggest spending that much time and moneyon fixing an old 12v A4... you could get a '98 (or newer)30v for $5000-7000. you would have a nicer car and you would probably end up spending that much fixing everything on the '96 anyway

It looks like it has two bad ICM's, about $600 in parts there,
a bad EGR valve which is around $200 in parts there.
That looks about it, so your looking at around $800 to fix it just to pass emmisions and IMO not worth it looking at the color and the fact that its a 2.8L 12V. About as gutless as it comes.

So it would only cost me around 3k to fix everything? I could sell it for alot more than that to some kid around here and get my hands on a nice unmolested cared for 1.8

You could fix it YOURSELF and smog it for around 2k, which would yield you around a 2k profit depending how much you can talk the guy down in price. The ICM's are easier to replace than spark plugs, and the EGR isn't very hard either.

That doesn't matter, the prices i listed were rock bottom, those same parts at the dealer would be around $1,500, the prices at www.ecstuning.com should be comparable to any discount you can get.
