If you had a turbo car that has a BT on the stock side mount then YES! If you have a FMIC on a k03/k04 then NO! If you have a BT and a FMIC then get water injection
wow... i feel somewhat dumber for reading that..

that is a horrible explanation that doesn't even make sense. im sorry, but it doesn't..

basically, if you have ANY engine, and ANYtype ofmods(especially a cone filter), then YES! get a heatshield. period..
You sir are an idiot!

All high hp turbo cars use a thing called a FMIC it takes the hot air and cooles it down before it makes it's way to the intake. If you think the hot air under the hood is bad just hhink how much hotter it is after it passes through the turbo.

Bottom line IF you have a good intercooler and or water injection you have no use for a lil heat shield period!
oh yes, i know exactly what the FMIC does on my car. you don't have to worry about that.. but as i said, all links in the system does their part. the heatshield is not as important as the intercooler, DUH! but it plays a still, important part..

It plays such a small part it's not even worth being a fukindick about so why bother noob? Use turbo heat wrap if you have that big a hard on about it.....

OMG this thread makes my head hurt. NA car, yes, protecting the filter/intake from heat is very important. For a Turbo car, it wont change a thing. The heat from the turbo and compression will still bring the temp of the air leaving the turbo to practically the same temp regaurless of the filter is sitting in the engine bay or sticking out of the car. Then the ic will still lower the temp to the same iat as it would with either filter location. If protecting the filter made hp, then everyone would be running a cai on there 1.8t no ?'s asked.
