I didn't mean tape on the outside.. thats janky. roll up a small piece and put in on the inside. Mine holds fine.

 

you see the long side of the key side? there's supposed to be a clip there. get a piece of paper and wrap it around the remote part that is going to be invisible when your put them together and just jam them together. this way no tape and no glue. it's how i did mine and it will still come apart if i pull them really really hard but otherwise i can swing, throw and do whatever to them but they stay together.
