Default Wutas da ProblEm?

damm.. recently my car has been making weird noises. When i speed up.. the car makes this rattling noise, sounds nasty.. like an OLLDDD car. I didnt know what the probelm was until i opened up my hood and check how much oil i have. I saw that i had oil below the minimum line. heres the thing, does my car rattle becuz there wasnt any oil or becuz its too old??? whats the problem? ( 96 2.8 v6)
which motor oil is the best for audi? is there a certain kind? please give me some advice.

If I were you... I would get that inspected. Its hard to tell what it is... it could be a bunch of things.

Do a search for oil changing. Mobil Synthetic seems to be a popular choice.

Cars don't make funny noises just because they are "too old". A 96' is still relatively new compared to most cars on the road. I can't imagine your car sounding like an old junker just because you didn't have enough oil in it. Not enough oil could have led to the problem though. Do you get your oil changed at regular intervals? How about your oil filter? Go have it inspected, and if you haven't been keeping up with your maintenance..its time to start.

Let us know what it is!

I've recently switched to Mobile 1 0w-40 in my 97 12v. Depending on the condition of your engine this could be a good weight oil for you. You may have problems with leaks due to old seals though. I previously ran M1 10w-30 for a year or so.

Your car is not that old. The 12V engine is almost bullet proof in reliability. If you have access to a Vag-Com try to get your car scanned for any fault codes.

Ratling sounds are usualy from unsecured heat sheilds ....shops love when you bring your car like that so the can charge you an assload of money for tightening a screw

Dude you car does need oil and you do need to check the level every once in a while
