Default Xenon Panic!!!!

Hi All,
My xenon light gave out on me. I have a 'Right dipped headlamp' error on my console showing and the right xenon lamp flickers when I tried to turn it on. It flickers for a few seconds and quits, I'm just out of warranty and I'm really worried about the bill. Also, aren't these things supposed to be super durable? Any ideas as to what might be wrong? Please share your ezperiences. Thanks

the "dipped" crap sometimes just comes up when the light is out.

that's what it said for my car when my light when out, so you may just have a dead bulb and need to replace it.

is the bulb completely dead?

Hi Toaster,
The bulb flickers, so it looks like its not completely dead. Isn't this the same technology for shop lights? So flickering may be because of a ballast problem, am I thinking on the right lines? Could it be as simple as a fuse? Any ideas are appreciated if I can avoid going to a dealership. Thanks

First I would check all the wiring from the ballast to the bulbs. If that looks good I would then swap the ballasts from one side to the other to see if the problem follows it.

Hi Jestnomen and Toaster,
Where can I find a guide for opening up the headlamps? I looked under the hood and there was nothign there I could relate to as a bulb socket. Looks like I need a set of audi specific tools, am I right or an I looking at the wrong screws(these have a star like groove on their heads). The audi dealer suggested it might be the igniters since the bulb flickers a bit, what are your thoughts on that? Thanks
