Hey guys! Finally changed my tires to KUMHO---very sweet/silent/comfy... was flying on the road and then.. in air... and then tore off my oil pan... $%^$%^%^^$%%^*()"£$"........all fun gone....
I read other threads and apparently, its very difficult to change the oil pan by urself on 1.8T ...
So, anyone knows of any place where they have instructions to do it preferably any pics too??

Thanks

Bix

Paintball--It was late night..driving on a dark road @ an intersection where it was uneven... Before I realised, I was flying and it wasn't a shock when the engine oil light came up in few minutes. Luckily, my brain was working and I dint drive my engine to death.

Thanx Missionctrl. But I checked that website.. no article on replacing the oil pump even.. U mind spoting a link please?
thanx

On a positive note, I really like my khumo tires as well. This is an instance though when i might be taking my car to a shop. I can just imagine the frustration of the fix and all the wrench's that would be flying around because of it. Its kind of hard to jack up the egine without doing it with a wood block between the oil pan and jack. Im having a hard time imagining how the engine gets lifted without a hoist.

It would be hard and a PITA. You may be able to jack it from the transfer case or trans just enough to do the job. Id opt for renting a hoist from the local parts store if i did have 1 already.

So, does this mean I cant do it without hoist....any ideas?? I think I'd rather go to some mechanic than trying to lift with a hoist which I have no idea how it works..... Damn this 1.8 ..why I dint buy a 2.8

BTW.. which motor are you guys taking about that ll need hoisting!!
