I've got 2006 A4 & I've loved it but I'm ready for a change. I've looked at A5 SE Technik 2012 model & really liked it but -I've read about a lot of problems with the multitronic automatic in older models. Does anyone know if the problems were sorted out before the. 2012 models?

 

I have A4 2.0tfsi multitronic 2011 with 22000 kilometers, It runs perfect. the multitronic is very smooth, fast, probably the best CVT. I tried the stronic (double clutch) and I almost didn't feel the difference.

I have an A5 multitronic. It is super smooth round town and very efficient on the highway. Gas mileage is good. I have had no reliability issues with it. The car has done 20,000 km so that should be expected.
However if you like to drive hard, then I do not believe it is a so suitable. Sure you can put it in sport and it goes fine, but I would suspect a dual clutch would be better.
