Default auto or manual?

newb. Posted in the wrong forum.

Ready to buy a 2013 A5 and can't decide between a manual or 8 speed tiptronic. Looking for A5 owner feedback please. I have a few dealers looking for a 2013 low mileage premium plus with MMI and manual, but they all say it's a needle in a haystack. I have about two months but can pull the trigger anytime. I plan on adding a few after market mods but not too much, chip and exhaust mod at the most. 45 minute drive to/from work, some highway some city and weekend trips for fun. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have a 2013 A5 with the 8-speed auto. Have you taken a test drive? This transmission is smooth as butter. The mpg ain't too bad either.

There is some lag in the normal "D" mode, but the "S" mode is much more spirited and perfect for the times you need it.

The ZF 8HP transmission is widely used throughout the industry by BMW, Bentley etc. but since you're buying it used, you might consider getting the fluids changed. Audi say they are "lifetime", but in the U.S. calling something "lifetime" just means it has to last to 100K.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the transmission will autoshift if in manual mode or do you hit the rev limiter? My current silly car in manual mode won't even get into the yellow zone on the rpm's before it autoshifts to the next gear. I haven't driven one yet, only a manual A5.
