Hi All - I have owned my S5 for about two months now, and all I can say is wow. This is the finest car I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few BMW's and Porsche's as well. For an every day driver, you cant go wrong. I am new to the forum and look forward to any fun mods any of you might suggest. Anyone know of an aftermarket exhaust system? Let me know if you guys have any questions about the S5 - I hope I can help.........but also hope I dont see too many on the road - it is a real head turner!

Well, good to see a post from an S5 owner. I am currently resident in Singapore but moving to the US this summer and hope to buy one. Prior car was a Lexus IS300 but Lexus doesn't make a manual shift car any more, so they've lost me; hence my considering an S5. BMW 5 series doesn't look so great. Benz doesn't have a manual shift. I guess Infiniti G37 is a possibility but I have doubts about the fundamental quality. Which brings me to Audi....never owned one. I did see an A5 very briefly going by on the road in France last week...wow the headlights really stood out.

I am a stickler on quality and durability, and boy the Lexus was very impressive in that area, so I'm hoping the S5 won't disappoint.

Anyway, the first A5/S5s should be arriving in Singapore this month and I hope to go see one up close for the first time.
Question for you though...if you are in the US, what is the supply of S5 like? Enough to be able to shop around and get a decent price, or do the dealers basically have you over a barrel and can charge what they want?

I think you will find the S5 to be equal or superior to the quality and workmanship you have experienced with your Lexus. I have always felt BMW led the field in that category and I owned an Audi A6 back in early 2000 which led me to believe BMW was still the leader - I wasnt thrilled with my A6. I know that it was an older model so I gave the S5 a test drive and was blown away. It is awesome in all categories.

As far as supply, I think you will see some other posts in that area - it is impossible to find one of these cars. I tried to order one from my local Audi dealer and I was first on the list, however I was consistenly being told that Germany wasnt pulling the ticket and that production had slowed down on the S5 to keep it exclusive. I dont know what the truth is, but after 3 months of the same story I went searching on the internet. Of about 60 dealers I contacted, I finally found the color/interior color that I wanted. I purchased it at sticker price which I thought was fair - I live in the Los Angeles area and have heard of S5's being marked up $5000 over sticker price.

Good Luck!

Congratulations! I ordered my S5 in November, and it is due in sometime in April. Its hard to wait, but it will be worth it. I ordered Deep Sea Blueon tuscan brown with carbon atlas inserts. It has all of the goodies except side assist, which was not available when I ordered nor much desired.
