Default Water in the control unit/modual bay

Hello all

I'm hoping for a bit of advice on a problem that's cropped up recently.
My electronic parking brake suddenly went on the fritz.....shortly followed by the central dash display.

My mechanic has changed the switch and the motor but on advice from someone else, he's check the control unit and found the bay full of water.
We suspect the control unit is now shot.....i can get a new one but re the water....there's not obvious signs of where the water is getting in!
I've even had a mate in the boot whilst I tips buckets of water over it....nothing!

Anyone else had these issues??

One thing I should add, is that i park on the curb....almost always with the right hand side on the road, so lower down.
The bay on the left side is bone dry.

Thanks in advance
Ben
