Default Whats up with the 3.0 TDI?!?!

I love the new A5/S5 and Im selling my 05' A4 to pay off CC debt and save some money to get an A5 by the end of the year. I love the car but right now all they are offering is the 3.2 V6; no 1.8t or 3.0 Diesel?! I've gotten really into Biodiesel and am buying a old Mercedes to run on the stuff. So the 3.0 TDI would be awsome as it gets great millage, can run on Biodiesel and out performs the 3.2 V6.

So my question to you guys is; what are the roumors sourrounding the 3.0 TDI A5? I talked to a few sales guys at the Auto gallery in Woodland Hills, CA and they didnt have much to offer other then it may never come at all and if it does it will take a while.

they are right about how it may take a real long time for them to come over here, they dont pass the emisions, they have to pass all the states before it will come here and it isn't passing some of the state to my knowledge, they will not bring it over until it passes all and every state requirment.

No way man, they suposidly have some sort of "clean diesel" technology and the SMOG requirments for diesels are lax at best. I would say its just a matter of time, GM is comming out with diesel options for a ton of their cars. Im tellin ya, the US is gonna be lookin more like the EU once Big Oil Bush is outta the white house. Cleaner running, fuel efficent cars and a lot more diesels!

cmon u guys in the USA really dont get 3.0 tdi audi a5?thats a shame,i am in europe and my father is getting a 3 liter diesel in 2 weeks time,i am really looking forward to drive it.i dont know the laws in your country but this diesel of audi has really low c02 emission, and only in 2013. will cars be required to have that amount of emission or less,so herewe will be able to drive it for at least another 15 years or so.hope America and its government/carcompanys etc. will realizebig deal of advantages ofmodern diesel engines

Good point, and along with the laws in 2013 every car maker has to have a line of vehicals that gets 32+ MPG. From what I hear GM is puting small diesel engines in all the their models. Even the trucks and Tahoe's will get 4.8L Turbo Diesels that gets about 30 MPG. So I hope that lights a fire under Audi's *** and gets the wonderful 3.0 TDI engine over here and in multiple models.

Hey! My wife and I are stationed over here in germany and we are testing a 3.0 TDI A5 right now. It has awesome power, I think 32-35 MPG. Its kind of sluggish in 1st and 2nd gear, but when you push on the gas in 3rd gear, the car TAKES OFF. I would LOVE to have a diesel back in the states. Hopefully they will be there within the next couple years. If you want some pictures of it let me know
