01 A6 muffler kit...
I have an 01 A6 and I recently viewed a muffler kit that costs $100 that exposes the muffler tips so they stick out the back and not out of the sides. I wanted to know if it is just a basic thing to do? And do I have to buy a new back bumper or do something crazy to it, or can I just simply throw this tips on and all is good? I am just new to this and was a bit curious.

No need to buy new bumper -- existing one can be modified. Follow the link in my signature to my registry page. Once there, look for "Stoney's Links." Go there. You will find numerous articles on how to expose your exhaust tips.
Good luck.

Heh, heh. On other forums, I actually have a link to Stoney's in my signature, but the signatures here are pretty limited so I do the "Go to my registry page..." thing. For people who are new to the A6 world, it's a GREAT resource to know about. Gave me a BIG head start on understanding my car.
Snow here outside of Boston. Haven't ventured out yet, bill hope to later today just to give the Quattro a workout.

You guys out east and in CA have no idea how nice it is NOT to have to drive in the stuff. I live 1-1/2 miles from Lake Michigan and a lake-effect storm hung over my town from Feb 2-11. Nothing like western NY, but we still had 2' of snow. They still haven't plowed my street so I get lots of thrills drifting through that. One thing for sure, quattro is the way to go. PS-And when it's not a storm, the cold air from IL/WI that floats across the warmer lake will usually drop 2-3" a night on us.
On the other hand, the big lake keeps it cool with a pleasant breeze all summer. Never new western MI could be so nice, and I'm a CT yankee who spent a lot of years in upstate NY.
