any new updates on this, i know its an old thread but I am having the same issue with my 2.7t. It appears it has just started to do it, but it has a rather large cloud of smoke!
In my previous cars i have had a similar problem, and it was caused by valve guide seals wearing out. My car doesnt splutter or miss. no oil in water or vice versa, and seems to have full power all of the time.

Valve guide smoke is usually blue (oil) not white.. White smoke is caused by a rich mixture. In cold weather it can be due to the vehicle running rich while warming up or condensation being blown out of the mufler.

Does it smoke more when it sit for a long time, like over night as compared to if you drive it, let it sot for 20-30 minutes and start it up again?

Could be a small coolant leak. Maybe headgasket.

White smoke means a coolant leak.

It could mean your turbos are gone- the coolant gets into the exhaust gas.

Do you have smoke in both exhaust pipes?
What is the mileage?
Monitor the coolant level, I'd suggest.

Do search on the forum - there is a lot of info here.

its blue smoke - it only does it when i start it up in the mornings, so after its been sitting for a while...12 hours or so.

Doesn't do it any other time that i can tell.
It doesnt smoke at all either from what i can see, and I cant tell which pipe its coming out of either sorry, not much help really!

next time i start it in the morning, i will get a friend to stand behind and check if its coming out both pipes..

Valve seals or turbos. Does it use oil? Watch your oil level. Then, start your car early in the morning before the sun comes up. No one will see the smoke....
