Okay, so I am a newbie here and a first time Audi owner, so please forgive this inquiry if it is seemingly redundant. I have done a search and couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I am an old fart with kids, so I don't want racer-boy looks or sound on my A6, but I am interested in having a little more driving fun. I have been looking for intake mods and have not found anything for the 3.0, plus I read a number of comments about the stock airbox/intake being pretty good. So now I am just thinking of a new filter. K&Ns seem to gum up the MAF sensor with the oil, so I would like an alternative. I read about Green air filters, but all I have read is from the manufacturer, which of course is going to priovide glowing information. Any comments from the real world???

Am also interested in better exhaust. Again - no racer-boy goals here, so no "Bomb" exhausts. I almost got a Remus catback for an Acura I previously owned, but I don't think there is a 3.0-specific application and I am not big on universals. I don't really want a "big" sound, just the best performance. Any thoughts? Thanks.

 

There's not much in the 3.0 mods department...but I think K&Ns work fine if they are not overoiled. I've had one in every car and never had problem with the MAF (because I don't overoil the filter). As far as exhaust, do you have a 3.0 quattro or 3.0 CVT? They do have an exhuast for the quattro.

 

Actually, mine is a pretty basic version. I have the 6-spd Tiptronic in a non-Quattro. No Bose, no Homelink, no Xenon, no electronics in the review mirrow, no heated seats. But I still think it is a freakin great car.....

 

So you have CVT then...like me. So for an exhaust, you would probably have to get a custom bent set-up since fronttrak and quattro cars have different pipe routings, and there aren't any cat-back systems for the fronttrak 3.0.
