Exclamation 02 A6 oil pressure issue

Hello
- 02 audi a6 3.0 w/ 105k
-starting tonight during a little fun in the snow my check oil pressure light came on - pulled over checked oil, couldn't see if it was low at all but it was in a blizzard so i grabbed my quart out of the bag in my trunk and put 1/2 a quart in just to top it of until i get home - arrive home, oil isnt low and nothing leaking from what i can see or smell but my check oil pressure light is still blowing up at me
- any ideas? pump? ... i would like to be back in the snow asap
-cheers, kyle

Could be a bad pressure sending unit. That should be what you check first. Don't you love how things like this always wait until the snow falls to happen?

oh how that is true - this will be the third winter i own my audi and each winter something has broke within the first couple good snows and then a spend a couple of weeks taking care of the issue - each winter something went out - and my back up car is an 99 alero and its not like i can take the bike out for a spin - ugh oh audi

if anyone else has a thought please shoot it this way
thanks

Thumbs down oil pressure sending unit problem?

After changing the oil n filter i went a day without seeing the warning to check my oil pressure - it wasnt the low oil pressure but just the check - then the 2nd day it went off for the drive home from work and the next drive that night then nothing for 2 days then it comes on again (last night) whereas all day today has been fine and ive driven it for over an hour in transit and i also have checked the oil level consistently (which it is fine) and no leaks - oil temp is fine

has anyone ever had this intermittent warning light problem or anything like it

thanks

Could it be that you have sludge? Are you running dino or synthetic? anyways, try seafoam.

Seafoam on intake will make white smoke. In your case, it is in the crank case.
