Hi new to the forum, former saab driver very happy to be rid of my 00 9-5. Tonight i went and looked at a 02 a6 with tiptronic, The dealer was about to close so i did not get much info. it has 72,000 miles, not sure what motor, did the tiptronic come on specific engines? What engine is the best, what are common problems with the A6? What should i look for inregard to concerns. Thanks for the input!

I believe there are 3 engines to choose from with the '02 A6 in the States. All three are offered with the Tiptronic transmission IIRC. They are the 2.8L V6, 2.7T V6, and the 4.2L V8.

I think you might have made an error. There is a 3L v6 Audi A6 2002 too.

That is what i have. Make sure you check the CV Boots, tire treads, battery life, if the timing belt was changed and brakes and rotors.

most likely the timing belt service hasnt been performed yet which is going to run you about $1000 right off the bat. I would recommend having an Audi specialist or Audi dealership do a thourough check on it if you are seriously considering buying it, it is well worth $100.
