Hi everyone, I have a problem with my 06 Audi A6 where I go to start the car but nothing happens only a few things power up like the stereo comes on but turns off after like 3 minutes. I can’t roll the windows up or down, I insert the key but nothing happens same thing with the start button. I’ve read that by replacing the j518 module attached to the steering column would solve that problem but nothing happened when I replaced it. Anyone has any idea as to what else can be the problem?

 

I have exact same issue. In the process of replacing both the 3x j518 switches and the relay on the starter module. Just curious if you only changed the switches and not the module as any of the 4 components can be the issue.

 

Hi Istewart10; just wanted to update you on the issue. I fixed the problem, it turns out that I did everything as should but after putting the module back together I didn’t notice that one of the motor contacts was grounded to the module’s chassis so that prevented it from starting up-thank god it didn’t burn the whole unit or something else in the car. That’s what I found after careful inspection hope this helps you.

 

ohh and I did replace the 3 micro switches and the relay as well and it’s still going!
