I am very interested in buying a used '95 A6. I was on crutchfield asking about stereo options the other day. They said that with the bose system only the stock headunit is available for use with the bose speakers. Is this correct or can I swap out headunits and put in a Alpine one and still run the bose speakers? I want to put in another head unit so I have better controls for an ipod. I just so happened to get a Alpine head unit for christmas.

From what I have been told the bose speakers sound terrible with a different head unit. I dont know how true this is though. Your best bet would be to consult a local audio dealer and see what they suggest.
