For the 1.8l, my only concern would be engine sludge. Inquire about it's oil changes and see if a local Audi mechanic can check it out.

Research 1.8l and sludge. You'll find all the info about that engine you need to know. Great car, great engine, just needs synthetic or severe sludge problems even in low miles.

 

Haha well an update on my quest to actually get an audi I found a 98 a6 with 55k on it in Parma Ohio? He priced it at 8999$ but I kbb'd it and it said 6100, and he would do 6100 too. Its funny because I called him and he had poor poor english, but I understood him at the most part. Hes sending me pictures now. What do you guys think?

Not worth $6,100 -- never mind $8900
At the most I'd spend $4000 for a 98 - if it is perfect.
I'd spend $3000 max for a run of the mill Audi

 

Yeah its not worth it. The pictures he sent me of the interior were really bad. It looks like they've been through 200,000 miles.

 

Gotta watch those 'cluster changers'....
