Hmm...I would love to tell you to buy it but I'm not so sure. Apart from the 2.8's characteristic lack of torque/acceleration, 5 Grand could also be buying you a pile of headaches. My '01 A6 Avant goes off warranty in October and I will be trading it in before that solemn date. The car has had so much warranty work done on it that I'd be crazy to keep it, knowing what parts and labor cost on these things. Which is sad, because I really do like the car as a family hauler. As a german engineered reference point, I also have a '96 993 (last of the aircooled[sm=burnout.gif]) which has required nothing but routine maintenance since I bought it eight years ago.
