1999 A6 2.8 rough idle? 2 other problems
Hi there!
Just bought a 1999 A6 Quattro with the 2.8, with 113,000miles on it.
The car runs perfectly, except that the idle is rough, the engine vibrates quite a lot when at stop lights, no matter if the tranny is on drive, tiptronic mode, or neutral, so we can rule out the tranny as the culprit. As soon as you give it a little throttle, the vibrations disappears.
I'm completely new to Audi/VW cars. Is this a common problem? WHere to look first?
Also, the fog lights won't turn on, and the headlight washers don't operate when I use the windshield washer with the engine running, and the headlights on, as they should.
Other question: Shall I run it on premium or regular is fine?
Thanks!!
Guillaume

Welcome to the Audi side of life (the best there is). 89 octane is the lowest grade fuel recommended for Audi's i have the same car I only run premium in it though. And your positive your turning on the fog lights? You gotta pull the dial out

hi!
I will change the sparks plugs and I'll have the ICV cleaned. As for the fog lights, I'm positive I'm doing it alright, I'm pulling the dial out with the headlights on. The headlights washer don't work either.
Thanks!
