1999 A6 2.8L US, Misfire on 1 & 4 after water pump and timing belt replacement.
I replaced be water pump and timing belt and several water hoses. After doing that I get misfire on cylinders 1 & 4. I am not sure what is going on. When I did the timing belt oh, I had the correct cam gear holding tool and plug to lock the crank. I cannot imagine that the timing could be off. I used my VCDS Audi software and is it showing both cylinders being dead. I am almost to the assumption that it is an internal problem with the valves or piston rings. I have not done a compression test I have replaced the coil pack, plugs, wires and nothing has resolved that. If anybody has a clue as to what's going on let me know. I hate to pull both heads off before I know what's going on. A lot of work! If anybody knows if these valves get gummed up or bent or burnt let me know! That's what I'm thinking has happened without putting a scope down see what's going on. If my timing was off, would this cause 1 + 4 to misfire? It seems very odd that the front two cylinders are misfiring.
