So i have a6 2.7T, and ever since i got the car, i have been curious to know if your car is like mine, on the highway, at a nominal 65-70 MPH my rpm's seem HIGH, up near 4k, is that the same for everyone, is this something that I should have checked out?

RPM too high, if its an automatic/tiptronic chances are its not going into 4th gear or 5th if you have it RPM should be around 2.5/6 at 70 MPH "ish"

 

see thats what i thought, could possibly be the overdrive sensor? Well I need new brakes, guess i should do this all at one time , bye bye spending $

 

TOO high. 3000 rpm at 75 mph in 6spd 2001 2.7t

 

well good im glad, but not glad, that it is something incorrect, hopefully ill start getting some good gas milage too !

 

check your not in sport mode if you have it because this keep it in the gears longer hence the high RPM

 

Oh I didnt know i had a sport mode, if i do, how do I tell?

 

If you have a 2002+ then you have sport mode. It is simply an "S" below the D. Try putting the transmission into tip mode then making sure youre in the top gear that way.
