Hey, what is the most effective way to do a cai on the 2.8? Who makes the best one, what do you guys recommend? Thanks, Matt.

People are reporting the same gains, if not more by doing the "Darintake". It's free if you just use your stock filter.

Here is a link, along with dynos..

You don't want an aftermarket intake, this mod will still give you that VROOOOM noise with a noticable difference. Audi intakes are the only thing done right, I swear, they are good up to 300+HP. Look at stage 3 and 3.5's on audiforums or audiworld, they are running the darintake.

I have a K&N drop in, so your sayin that if I cut a hole in the bottom of my air box, and put some mesh on it, I will hear some nice intake growl as if I had a reg cone filter? If so, I would prefer this cause I do like the clean look of the stock air box.

Sounds just like it! I could easily and realistically compare it to the K&N CAI I had in my 240sx

on my car where was the circle inside the air box i remove it and i run an 3 inch rubber house with an funnel (painted black)at the end coming from front lower pass side so that gives me more cold air, but when enter in the air box i face it to the side , just for rainy days, also i have drop in k&n. all set up is still project i didn`t secure the air box because i have the house run inside, i plan run another hose and this time i will drill a hole for it, and also will get the air from pass fender. the original air tube is still connected. if you search a little more on vortex or some vw forum is an tutorial, i guess look for cold air intake.
