2000 2.7t 6M Totaled!!! Now What!!!
Well ladies and gentlemen my pride and joy is now gone.
A week ago I was T-boned on my drivers side door, and its now official that shes totaled. I was sitting at a stop sign when bam some cute girl wanted to meet me. I should explain to her that a simple hi would suffice next time. As far as damage goes replacement is as follows drivers side: front fender, front door inside and out, outside of rear door, center pillar, and all trim along the bottom along with some flooring on the inside.
However, it doesn't end there. I was hit pretty hard and she ended up pushing me through the stop sign. So in the process of taking down the stop sign with the passenger side of my car I was able to destroy the front fender and wheel along with some work needed on the front door.
The unfortunate part is I think I have an addiction
I have owned this car for a year (97,500-112,500 miles). And in this period of time I have experienced $150 worth of repairs (rear brake pads and rotor cutting). Obviously I did rountine stuff like oil changes, wheels, and entertainment. But that is all stuff I would have done with any car so it doesn't fall into that repair expense category. Also with my settlement I will have experienced $200 dollars worth of depreciation over that period of time. That means to own this car for a year it cost me $350. That number just brings a smile to my face.
Because of my experience and absolute love of everything about the car it will be getting replaced by a 2002 2.7t 6M. I wanna stay on a roll with a reliable car. I sure hope I don't get a lemon.
So now that you know what I'm looking for I would appreciate any advice on anything to look for on the 2002 model year that was different from 2000 (besides them looking sexier, personal opinion). My one question right now is I had a phatnoise MP3 player in the old car, but in 2002 the Bose radios came with in-dash cd changers so is there any place to plug in the phatnoise or am I SOL???
Here's a picture before she hits the bone pile.

After getting the check from the insurance company, can't you buy it back for 1-2,000 and fix it yourself?
A fender is around $ 100 new; a door anywhere from 200 to 400 (I remember even seeing complete doors, with the trim panel included - either on Ebay or some of those salvage businesses); a B-Pillar around $ 250-300. The lower sill trim shouldn't be that expensive, and the flooring probably can get straighten out.
What was the value of the car the insurance company decide on, 7000-7500?
Probably with 5,000 you can bring your car back to tip-top shape it was in before the accident. You get to keep it and you pocket some cash as well.

Salvage value is $2800.
Obviously the insurance adjuster used estimates based on new parts which is why it was totaled so easily. My collision guy said it would be close to do it for $5500 with used parts but he would end up going over with the inside door trim on the front drivers side. I have that rare oynx/vanilla interior and he couldn't find a used panel and that inside piece costs $600.
Being as its totaled and I can't go back to the insurance company for more money. Its not worth the risk.
If he runs out of money and a few things don't match up perfectly I have to pay out of pocket cause I am not gonna drive a variety pack AUDI.
Plus I can get out of this particular car on the winning side.

Djez,
I would get 4.2, they look better and tend to have less problems, but I'm not ready to give up the 6 speed. Thats the reason I first came to Audi a year ago. I wanted a mid-full size sedan that was a stick. Which left me with either an A6 or a Maxima and I fell in love when I first drove the Audi.

Sorry about your loss.
The bright side is that your car may have saved your life with all the passive safety built in. Would you have fared as well in a Maxima or Taurus?
You may never know, but you are here today to tell your story and that is a tribute to how well Audis are built!
Best of luck in finding your next Audi!
