hey guys first off im new here second i need some help i am looking at taking the cats and punching them out on my 2000 a6 and i need to know if the 02 sensors are in front of the cats if they are then i can do no problem if they are not then we will have a problem dont worry about the road legal issues i know my local and state laws and it is the 4.2 quattro thanks for any help calib

 

There's four of them in total; One on the driver's side before the cat and one after. Same deal for the passenger side.

 

so if i punch out the cats would it be ok

 

I couldn't say for sure since I am by no means a mechanic. You'd probably get the Check Engine light for catalytic converters operating below efficiency threshold but besides that and not passing emissions I think you would be fine. I would check with a mechanic just to be sure.
