Obviously and unfortunately the possibilities are endless as to what could be wrong but looking for thoughts from anyone from prior experience. Car is idling and driving extremely rough all of the sudden and out of no where. Has 132k miles on it but gets regular maintenance and seemed to be running like a champ until now. Check engine light is solid and remains on.

 

run a vag-com on it, get the codes off it and it will help alottt

 

It can only be air, fuel, or spark, right? I'd start with the easy stuff. How long has it been since you checked your plugs? My 2.8 suddenly started running really rough and when I checked the plugs, they looked terrible. I got rid of the NGK's and threw in some Autolites (all I could find in town) and it runs great again.
