2000 AUDI A6 Timing Belt Job
Hi All,
i recently reached 90k and i am doing the timing belt job. i have seen conflictiing reports about when to do this job. some say as early as 60k and others say it's more like 75k. as mentioned i have gotten up to 90k with my A6 2.8 and didn't want to push it any longer especially since i hear a warning sign that bearings and what not were starting to fail. i turned on the AC the other day and hear a screeching sound coming from the serpintine belt tensioner. my car runs great. i have a few mods to it. lowered it with ebach springs and put some 18" S4 replicas on it. all in all it runs great. i just took it to the dealer today (Anchor Audi of lynbrook NY)to have the job done. they gave me what i thought to be a resonable princing for the entire job and on top of that they gave me a loaner, a Q5...i have requested all the parts that came in the Blauparts timing belt kit to be changed. they are supposed to be giving me back all the old parts. i will put up photos of them so everyone can get a sense of what 90k is for wear and tear on these parts. i should be getting it back come Thursday so i'll have them up as soon as i document it. I hope this will be helpfull to anyone out there who is thinking about doing this job.
