2001 A6 2.7 Need Help!
Hey everyone,
I'm new to these forums and am hoping you guys can give me some insight into a purchase I may make. I am currently looking into a 2001 Audi A6 2.7, Automatic with about 155 000 KM on it. The seller is selling pretty cheap in my opinion so I am a bit skeptical ($5000 CDN + taxes etc.), he is providing me with a car proof report so I will have to look that over.
My biggest concerns are:
How much can I expect to pay on maintenance and parts?
What are some pros and cons about this vehicle?
And basically any general information that you can give me to help make this choice a little easier.
Thanks again for looking and responding.

You need to read the sticky about 2.7T care and feeding. Lots of good info. Also, searching this forum section for 2.7T issues and problems. Having said that, the vehicle has about 90-95k miles on it and should have had the timing belt and related components replaced. That's a US$1000-1500 expense depending on whether you go to an indie shop or dealer. Otherwise, brakes, control arms, CV joints and covers, catalytic converters and related sensors, etc.
I have 188k miles on mine. Replaced alternator, clutch and flywheel, upper/lower control arms on one front axle. Regular maintenance includes two timing belt changes, and new rotors and brakes recently.
