2001 A6 2.7t EGT and Broken Pipe, advise please.
Hi all,
New to the forums, see my post here https://www.audiforums.com/forum/new...a-4/hi-172535/
I have posted this also on AudiWorld, but not had any replies, I have found alot of information about my EGT fault code, but before I do any of that I need to find out about this tube... Sorry if I am being dumb, but im on a steep learning curve (an enjoyable one I have to say)
Before I ask my questions I notice people like to know as much as possible about the car, I own a 2001 C5 Audi A6, Quattro 2.7t, 230bhp version. I have done around 140k miles and never really had any problems until...!!!
I ran a VAGCOM report which threw up a 17861 Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Open Short to Plus P1453 35-10 Intermittent, which after a much searching lead me here to this post:
AudiWorld Tech Articles
So, I think went online and looks for the parts etc, and discovered that some recommend that I replace both and some say just do one blar blar, anyway I thought I would go and have look in detail at my car, now knowing where the problem lies before doing anything else...
Now this is the fun bit, I opened the bonnet, I do check my levels alot etc, so I am shocked ive not seen this before, to find a pipe unattached from SOMETHING, what I dont know, my question is can anyone tell me?!?
I have attached some photos, of the pipe itself and where the end terminates (located directly under the G12 coolant res)
This fist image is the "broken" or cut end of the pipe:
The second is the location which is terminates, its the L shaped pipe, directly under the G12 coolant res.
Could anyone tell me what it is and what it does. The car is running perfectly OK, would this have a factor on the G235 error on the EGT?
Many thanks
