Default 2001 A6 - Automatic Transmission Sticking

I have a 2001 A6 2.8L that has been having trouble upshifting (usually from 2nd into 3rd, but it has occured at other gear changes too). The problem has been getting more frequent, but it doesn't happen at every acceleration. I usually just switch over to tiptronic, manually shift, then flip back to D. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Does this sound like it could be something simple, or might I be seeing a new tranny in my future?

Thanks!

Change your fluid and filter! If that does not help, might be something more serious.

Transmission will shift late when it's cold, but after some driving it should shift easy at low rpm's.

when you say "change your fluid", you don't mean a transmission fluid flush, do you? Everything I've been reading about flushes says NEVER do it, as it could ruin your tranny. And I never even knew the transmission fluid had a filter. I guess this is something I'll have to bring it in for. What should this cost me? <$100?

Thanks

I think you read too much in wrong places=)

Dealer (someone might kill me here for repeating [8D]) says that transmission fluid is lifetime, but, well, lifetime for them is when car goes out of warranty so they don't give a deam if your transmission will go south after that for not being properly maintained.

Yes, it has filter inside and about 6qt of epxpensive synthetic fluid. The fluid should be changed at least every 50k for sure. I would do my next in 30k.

Unfortunately Audi uses fancy prosedure for changing fluid, and regular places will not do that. To change fluid you'll have to go to special audi/VW shop and it will cost you big $$$. Another alternative is to do it yourself. And that will cost about 100$.

Research forum on ATF fluid change you'll find all the info your need. It's not that difficult.

ps fluid does not have to be flushed when you DIY, just replacing is enough.
