2001 A6 vs. F150
My next car wont be for several more years. I tend to keep my cars forever. My 93 volvo had 334k miles on it when I traded it in, so with only 160k on the Audi, it will be a while. Our last 3 series had 240k on it before selling it. But, with that said, it will either be an A4 avant or a 3 series wagon. The a6 is just too big for my needs.
For 6k, I would look at e36 BMW's.

It is really hard to come up something comparable for 6K, especially if you are looking for AWD car. You should be able to get a B5 A4 for that much, but not a B6. If you look around, there maybe an deal on a B5 S4.
I was in a similar position as you. I was in a freeway accident hitting a wooden post, had damage to the front end, both passenger side hubs were cracked in half and dented the rear side. I didn't have collision coverage and decided to fix the car myself. Bought the main driving parts and everything used for around 1000 not including the wheel/front bumper/ or fixing the back side. We had to replace both fenders, 1 headlight, both right hubs, 1 intercooler, radiator, rad support, other misc stuff. I drove the car for another 6 months or so before the turbos finally went out , 130k miles on the car. I'm planning on spending around 3k buying turbos, front bumper, wheels, fixing the rear dent and hopefully having the car painted. The car drove fine after fixing the parts and had minimal damage to the front subframe that was easily fixed and put in spec. I was totally amazed on how minimal the damage was as i was driving about 75mph before attempting to break and the impact did spin. My daughter was in the back seat going weeeeee and afterwards asked if we can do it again. We both didn't have any injuries or any problems after the accident. A week later my GF crashed my mustang GT into a tree in the neighborhood going about 20mph and had leg injuries. The mustang was worse looking than the Audi. I will prob always drive an audi from now on and am amazed by the strength and integry of what these cars can handle.
I believe you need to replace the whole front bumper cover but might not need the steel reenforcement. I replaced my HID headlight with auto leveling with a non hid standard headlight and just needed to move the ballast/harness and auto leveling piece. The HID's do have a different piece that holds the bulb than the standard but it's bolted in and can be removed. I found a way to have the bulb fit into the standard housing as my HID housing was broken. You can also buy a pair new clips from the dealer for about $25 and you just cut the old broken clip off and screw in the new one into another hole.

Thanks for the replies! I am lookin into b5 A4's, there are a few b6's but only one quattro. Unfortunately the appraiser won't be able to quote me till Monday. If I exceed $6300 he will call it total loss and cut me a check in the vicinity of $7200 which I will get a car for $6000 and give it a full tune up. If they quote me for anything above $2500 for damage I will put it back together myself and keep a few bucks in my pocket. I am really hoping they total it so I can get an A4 which will give me the same amount of amenities and better fuel economy. I'll be posting a pic later this afternoon and we can make bet's on what the results will be
Note in pic #3 the gap on the hood getting larger from the back of the hood to the front of the hood and the misalignment of the headlight. Pic #4 the crack on the cowl next to the radiator and over the radiator. Pic #5 has a cracked tail light (didn't notice that before) and the dent on the qp below the tail light. Lastly #6 with the muffler has been pulled down and there seems to be an exhaust leak. Seems everything else is in good working order, and the ac works (lucky me
If by chance your car is totaled, I am looking to get rid of my 2001 A6 2.7T. will sell for 6k. Couple problems w/ the car currently, but unlike most people, I am dropping the price to help cover the repairs and will not sugar coat/hide issues. car currently has 133k miles.
This goes to anyone! Private Message me if interested. Repairs are NOT costly if you know someone who is car savy or are so yourself. I simply do not have the time being in college.

You have a cool license plate JK, It looks lilke your hood was slightly bent which is what causes the gap on the right side? You'll def need a new rad. support which is an easy fix and a new bumper cover obviously. Your headlights look fine and the taillight is around 130 i believe new.
My front bumper looks almost identical. Wish I had a pic of it but it's laying in my garage with the rest of the front end. They're going to total the car just bc it's easier but I bet even at a shop it only has like 4000 max damage. You should take it to a shop and get a repair quote. They're free and you'll have their report to compare to the adjuster's so you know you're not getting ripped off.
I bought almost all my stuff off http://www.pamsauto.com/ or some lkq site. They both sell on ebay which sometimes have lower prices than their sites. check them out as they have tons of stuff
