Exclamation 2001 Audi A6 2.7L Twin turbo. (Please HELP!)

check engine light came on code "P1392-Camshaft Pos.Sensor,Bank2 Open Circ./Short to B+" I need a DIY ASAP. dont want my engine to get hurt by bad timings.

Additional Details: Occasionally Has a Random MISFIRE P0300. Car has 107k miles on it. seems to run smooth. so im assuming its just a wire. cause the belt itself would cause major issues.

i Just bought the car short while ago. dealer passed the safety an emissions and everything. (Even with the check engine on) he just cleared the code.

Your cam positioning sensor might be on its way out, like you said. However, more importantly, do you know if the timing belt was changed on this car?

Thread #78 shows pic where bank 2 cam position sensor is located. #14 in pic. Somewhat easy to remove. Unbolt coolant reservoir, & move aside. 2 10mm bolts to remove CPS. Unfortunately it's partially trapped by a coolant hose/line directly behind it which blocks removal. Have to drain coolant from resevoir, move blocking hose & remove metal hose nipple. Then CPS comes right off.

Default Little issues that are becoming a bother.

timing belt has not been changed

it is not the belt or the sensor itself. but somewhere there is definitely a short in a wire... I drove it around a bit and it seems that every so often the engine light turns itself off and the codes gone but then after a day it'll come back same code. its really annoying.

Additional Details: I had an oil leak on the passengers side I believed it to be a valve cover seal so I replaced it. it doesn't leak as bad now. but still leaks and when I play around and use the turbo's a lot it gets worse any ideas on what that is? and how to fix it? didn't see any damage to the casings and the bolts on the valve covers are in great condition.

And on a completely unrelated topic when I plug into the onboard computer to get a code it asks me who the manufacturer is. is this normal?

How have you determined that it's the wiring and not the sensor? Have you checked for continuity?

Also, how are you varying your usage of the car's turbos?

When I drive like a grandpa with my gf in the car there is barely any smoke ever if I take off pedal to the floor and stop whit smoke floods out the front. And the I'm going to a shop for the engine light. Thanks tho. I'm all new to this car I've only ever driven junkers. This is all very new to me.

Any recommended performance upgrades? A list of prices and parts with the purpose of each and a price would be great. Or a link to a thread with this info.
