Exclamation Need Advice on 2001 2.7

I just purchased a 2001 A6 2.7 quattro 6 speed, it has 149,000 miles on it but it runs great. I dont think the previous owner ever ran the car hard. I was reading up on upgrades and dont even know where to begin or if its even worth it due to the miles. Is there anything i can do without encountering future problems, i want to tune it but im afraid the car may have to many miles and the turbos wont be able to handle it. This is my first foreign car so i dont know where to begin and i want to be cautious because maintenance is extremely expensive.
Also due to the miles what should i prepare for and need to check for maintenance. I love the car but is it going to last? Any help is appreciated.

First, read the sticky about the 2.7T. That should answer most of your questions about maintenance.

As far as performance tuning, a chip and heavy duty TBB and DVs are the most bang for your buck (@ $1000) and will raise the hp from 250 to 318. But now you are putting strain on a higher-mileage, 12 year old vehicle. Caveat emptor.

I chipped mine at 75k and had to replace the clutch and flywheel around 90k (see the connection). I spent extra on the clutch and LWFW and have had no problems since with just under 220k. I have been living with leaky turbos for about 60k and they will fail someday. Then I have a hard decision to make.
